MECHANISM OF ACTIONS :
Relief and protection is afforded by zinc oxide
, cod liver oil , lanolin and petrolatum .
They
provide a physical barrier by forming a
protective coating over skin or mucous membrane
which serves to reduce further effects or
irritants on the affected area and relieves
burning , pain or itch produced by them .
In
addition to its protective properties , zinc
oxide acts as an astringent that helps heal
local irritation and inflammation by lessening
the flow of mucous and other secretions .
INDICATIONS :
Burn ointment is designed to provide relief of
diaper rash , superficial wounds and burns and
other minor skin irritations .
It helps prevent
incidence of diaper rash. protects against urine
and other irritants , soothes chafed skin and
promotes healing
PREVENTIONS :
To prevent diaper rash , apply burn ointment to
the diaper area , especially at bedtime when
exposure to wet diapers may be prolonged .
DOSAGE :
Apply ointment liberally as often as necessary ,
with each diaper change especially at bedtime or
anytime when exposure to wet diapers may be
prolonged . If diaper rash is present , or at
the first sign of redness , minor skin
irritation or chafing , simply apply burn
ointment three or four times daily as needed .
In superficial noninfected surface wounds and
minor burns , apply a thin layer of burn
ointment , using a gauze dressing , if necessary
for external use only .

Topical ointment in 30 gram tubes .
