CATEGORY : Antipruritic , skin protectant . MECHANISM OF ACTIONS : Calamine has mild astringent and antipruritic actions . PHARMACOKINETICS : Calamine applied topically is not absorbed through the skin . INDICATIONS : Calamine lotion is used to relieve the itching , pain , and discomfort of minor skin irritations , such as those caused by poison ivy , poison oak and poison sumac . This medicine also dries oozing and weeping caused by poison ivy , poison oak , and poison sumac . PRECAUTIONS : Do not use it on the eyes or mucous membranes such as the inside of the mouth , nose , genital ( sex organ ) , or anal areas .


W A R N I N G S : • Usage in pregnancy : calamine has not been shown to cause any birth defects or other problems in humans . • Usage in lactation : problems in humans have not been documented . • Shake well before using , Calamine lotion should be applied to the affected areas of skin with a cotton pledget moistened with the lotion . Allow the medicine to dry on the skin .


DOSAGE : Apply to affected area 3 to 4 times daily . HOW SUPPLIED : Topical lotion 8% in 60 mL bottles . STORAGE : Store below 30º C . Store away from heat and direct light . Protect from freezing .
